About the role#
Royal Electric Company is seeking a Virtual Construction Intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in our Sacramento office, this role offers hands-on experience within our Virtual Construction team. You will support professional growth by applying your academic knowledge to real-world electrical design and construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Design room unit layouts for installation using digital drawing tools.
- Work closely with VC Modeler 2 staff to ensure design accuracy and coordination.
- Create stub rack spools for prefabrication by building 3D models and breaking them down into spool sheets.
- Gain hands-on exposure to Revit for BIM modeling and design workflows.
- Shadow VC Modeler 2s during coordination meetings to observe cross-collaboration.
- Contribute to modeling projects involving ceiling lights, wall panels, transformers, and other electrical components.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program focused on Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Suite, and various coding skills and techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a creative problem-solving mindset.
- Technical and analytical proficiency.
- Familiarity with electrical field concepts.
- Ability to manage projects from initiation to completion.
- Must be able to wear proper PPE and follow all safety procedures on jobsites.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach, including lifting up to 15 pounds.
