About the role#
This is a hands-on internship focused on bridging the gap between hardware design and embedded software. You will work on bringing in-house electronics boards to life by debugging circuits and developing the firmware that drives them. You will collaborate with our engineering team to solve problems at the intersection of robotics and decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Perform circuit validation, including power-on tests, signal integrity checks, and continuity testing.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
- Develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for Arduino (C++) and STM32 (C) platforms.
- Implement and debug communication protocols like CAN bus, I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Validate communication protocols within Linux-based environments.
- Document debugging processes and firmware details into clear guides for the engineering team.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills for embedded systems.
- Proficiency with the Arduino ecosystem and experience or interest in STM32.
- Understanding of CAN bus architecture and messaging.
- Hands-on experience with lab tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and Python for scripting or automation.
- Bonus points for experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, or Eagle), SMD soldering, Git, and project experience in motor control or sensor fusion.
Location & details#
- Location: Milpitas, California.
- Modality: This is an on-site role requiring 5 days per week in the office.
- Type: Full-time, paid internship at $6,500 per month.
