About the role#
The CO-OP Student Sponsorship Program is designed to develop the next generation of skilled diesel technicians. This paid program combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience in a manufacturing and service environment. Participants receive tuition assistance, coverage for books and fees, and necessary tools while gaining professional mentorship and technical training.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside experienced technicians to inspect, diagnose, assemble, maintain, and repair custom railroad equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Learn industry-leading diagnostic and repair techniques.
- Develop safe work habits while following company policies and procedures.
- Represent the company professionally at work, school, and within the community.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or graduation prior to the program start.
- Enrollment, or plans to enroll, in an approved Diesel Technology program.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Intent to pursue a long-term career with the company after graduation.
- Ability to maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and make satisfactory progress toward graduation within approximately 24 months.
