About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in the development, testing, and improvement of water heating systems. You will work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software disciplines. The role supports the engineering team in Montgomery, Alabama, throughout the product development lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Support systems engineers in defining and maintaining product requirements and specifications.
- Analyze how mechanical, electrical, thermal, controls, and software subsystems interact.
- Collect and analyze data from product tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
- Help troubleshoot engineering issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Create engineering documentation, diagrams, test procedures, and technical reports.
- Attend design reviews, technical meetings, and cross-functional project activities.
- Assist with verification and validation tasks to ensure products meet requirements.
- Complete additional engineering projects and analyses as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well within a cross-functional team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- An interest in learning how complex engineered products operate as integrated systems.
- Experience with CAD, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or LabVIEW is preferred.
- Experience collecting and presenting engineering test data is a plus.
- Familiarity with requirements management, system modeling, or verification and validation is helpful.
- Previous hands-on engineering, laboratory, or manufacturing experience is an asset.
