About the role#
As an Additive Manufacturing Engineering Co-op at Rennscot MFG, you will work directly with industrial 3D printing technologies. This role involves optimizing build processes and supporting post-processing workflows to help refine our manufacturing operations.
What you'll do#
- Plan, setup, and execute additive manufacturing builds using industrial systems.
- Optimize build orientation, support structures, and process parameters to improve quality.
- Perform post-processing tasks such as support removal, heat treatment, and media blasting.
- Troubleshoot build failures and drive improvements in additive processes.
- Design and fabricate work holding fixturing for post-processing components.
- Participate in root cause analysis for production issues.
- Document manufacturing processes, build parameters, and setup procedures to ensure repeatability.
- Support other departments including quality, subtractive manufacturing, and assembly as needed.
- Complete an end-of-term summary documenting your contributions and lessons learned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree program for Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
- Exposure to build preparation software like Bambu Studio, Magics, 3DXpert, nTop, or PreForm.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with additive manufacturing systems like FDM, SLA, SLS, or metal printing is a plus.
- Knowledge of additive design principles and topology optimization.
- Experience with additive post-processing techniques.
- Must meet US Government export regulations regarding ITAR requirements.
