About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience supporting computer systems, software, hardware, and end users in a professional environment. You will work under the guidance of the IT team to assist with routine troubleshooting, device preparation, and technology support. This role helps you develop foundational skills in IT service delivery, customer service, and networking.
What you'll do#
- Assist with questions regarding computer systems, software, hardware, mobile devices, and office technology.
- Guide team members through basic troubleshooting by phone, email, and in person, escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Prepare, configure, reimage, deploy, and maintain computers and related equipment using established procedures.
- Manage equipment inventory, asset tracking, workstation setup, software installation, and updates.
- Run standard diagnostics and troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues.
- Document support steps, outcomes, and guidance while following security and change-management practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college, university, or technical program related to IT, computer science, cybersecurity, or networking.
- Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, Microsoft 365, and basic networking concepts.
- Professional communication skills and a customer-service mindset.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn from feedback.
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage assigned tasks, and ask for help when needed.
- Patience, empathy, and discretion.
- Prior customer service, help desk, or lab experience is helpful but not required.
- CompTIA A+, Microsoft Fundamentals, or similar coursework is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, paid, part-time internship based in St Louis, Missouri.
- The schedule is flexible, typically ranging from 15 to 25 hours per week, arranged around your academic availability.
- You may occasionally need to travel between company locations or assist with off-site technology setup.
- The role requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally bend, kneel, or reach under desks to install or troubleshoot equipment.
