About the role#
The UX/UI Design Intern joins our digital team for a full-time, on-site internship. You will work alongside designers, strategists, and developers to create websites, apps, and digital tools. This role involves contributing to every stage of the design process, from initial research to final prototypes. You will gain hands-on experience in a digital-first agency environment.
What you'll do#
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
- Support user research through heuristic analysis, usability testing, and competitive audits.
- Assist in developing personas, journey maps, site maps, and information architecture.
- Apply client brand guidelines and design systems to maintain consistency.
- Build and maintain reusable components and style libraries.
- Review designs for accessibility to help meet WCAG and Section 508 standards.
- Share work in progress during team critiques and present ideas to internal teams and clients.
- Document design decisions and prepare project deliverables.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor's degree, preferably in interaction design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, digital media, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and orally.
- Skill in building and following timelines to meet tight deadlines.
- A collaborative, team-player attitude.
- Initiative and an eagerness to learn by doing.
- Ability to receive and incorporate peer feedback.

- Location: Alexandria, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site, five days per week.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
