About the role#
This internship focuses on the security of AI systems. You will work to break the models we protect and the systems we build. Our goal is to turn your findings into reproducible attacks and evaluations that catch vulnerabilities. Every intern is expected to produce a paper or a public technical report based on their work.
What you'll do#
- Elicit unsafe behavior from aligned LLMs and multi-modal models.
- Test guardrails to see if they hold under pressure.
- Automate attack generation and evaluation processes.
- Investigate prompt injection and tool-use abuse within agentic systems.
- Use our internal interpretability tools to locate model failure modes.
What you'll need#
- Hands-on experience attacking or stress-testing models, such as jailbreaks, adversarial examples, or model extraction.
- Ability to read research papers and implement the described attacks.
- Familiarity with agentic systems, including tool calls, memory, and multi-agent orchestration.
- Proficiency with machine learning tools like PyTorch, HuggingFace, and Transformers.
- Experience with Unix, Git, and basic cloud usage on AWS or GCP.
- Current authorization to work in the USA or ability to obtain CPT approval.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics.
