About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience for students pursuing a career as a heavy equipment technician. You will work alongside experienced mentors to bridge the gap between classroom theory and shop floor reality. This is a paid, part-time position designed to build your technical skills while you complete your education.
What you'll do#
- Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment.
- Perform basic maintenance and assist with troubleshooting tasks.
- Learn to operate advanced tools and shop technology.
- Document machine details, repair work, parts, and fluids used on service orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Demonstrate care for all tools and machinery.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology, or technical service program.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA and a solid attendance record.
- Experience using mechanical tools.
- Strong computer skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to stay organized.
- A focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Valid work authorization in the United States.
