About the role#
As a Security Engineer intern at Qube Research & Technologies, you will help protect the systems, data, and infrastructure that support our global research and trading activities. You will work alongside our Cloud, Infrastructure, and Network Operations teams to design and implement security controls within a high-performance environment. This role involves working directly with engineering teams to identify weaknesses and build practical ways to prevent, detect, and respond to threats.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to real security problems and build internal tooling.
- Automate security work at scale.
- Develop triage agents to support security investigations.
- Reproduce emerging attack techniques in lab environments to test detection systems.
- Participate in vulnerability research, security reviews, and remediation testing.
What you'll need#
- You are a penultimate or final-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related STEM discipline.
- You are on track for a 2:1 grade or above.
- You have programming or scripting experience, specifically with Python or Bash.
- You are comfortable working from the Linux command line.
- You have a solid grasp of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and Ethernet.
- You have experience with monitoring and observability tools.
- You possess a strong understanding of core security principles and technologies.
