About the role#
This is a 16-month internship focused on digital design and Design for Test (DFT) processes. You will gain experience across the full IC design lifecycle, ranging from high-level architecture definition and RTL coding to validation and silicon bring-up for custom SoCs and IPs.
What you'll do#
- Develop RTL code for DFT component generation.
- Integrate custom DFT logic for complex SoCs and CoWoS architectures.
- Perform Scan, MBIST, and BSCAN insertion.
- Run ATPG and coverage analysis.
- Simulate zero-delay and SDF-annotated test sequences.
- Build verification testbenches and write verification sequences.
- Review static timing analysis reports and generate SDC constraints.
- Implement design automations using Perl and/or Python.
What you'll need#
- Strong digital design fundamentals.
- Knowledge of Verilog and/or VHDL.
- Scripting proficiency in Perl, Python, or TCL.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date of November 2028 or later.
- Target-oriented, quick learner, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
- Familiarity with basic DFT concepts, EDA test tools (Siemens Tessent, Synopsys), C/C++, or SystemVerilog is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Duration: 16 months, from May/June 2027 through August/September 2028.
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
About Qualcomm
Qualcomm manufactures semiconductors and develops computing technologies. Founded in 1985, the company maintains its headquarters in San Diego. It serves markets including mobile, automotive, and the internet of things. The organization employs more than 10,000 people and operates as a public company.
How to get in at Qualcomm
Applying to Qualcomm early provides a distinct advantage because recruiters review applications before the volume of candidates becomes unmanageable. Intern Insider sends an instant alert the moment a role matching your target is published, which helps you apply among the first. This timing ensures your materials are seen while the team is still actively building their shortlist. Reaching out to the right people often yields better results than submitting through a general portal. Intern Insider surfaces the recruiters behind Qualcomm roles so you can contact them directly to ask about the position or a referral. This approach materially improves your response rates compared to waiting in a queue.
