As an Intern for the Canada Growth Fund, you will support the investment team in managing a $15 billion fund focused on climate investing in Canada. The mandate includes accelerating the deployment of new technologies to reduce GHG emissions, driving local economic benefits, and catalyzing private investment in sectors such as carbon capture, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, electrification, clean technology, and critical minerals.
What you'll do#
- Assist deal teams with the execution of transactions, including direct investments and external fund commitments.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of investment opportunities, including sector and thematic research.
- Perform financial modeling, valuation, and returns analysis, as well as impact analysis.
- Assess key investment merits and risks.
- Assist with due diligence activities, including reviewing work from third-party advisors.
- Help determine material ESG factors and calculate impact metrics, such as avoided emissions.
- Prepare investment memorandums and participate in presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Support the management of existing portfolio companies and assets.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering program (penultimate or final year).
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong business acumen and financial or accounting analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and French, or a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-performance environment.
- Enrollment in an investment program is considered an asset.
- Must possess the legal right to work in Canada for the duration of the internship.
