About the role#
This position supports the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) instructional program in Lakeland, Florida. The role involves assisting teachers and supervisors with daily classroom operations, student supervision, and behavioral management. You will work directly with students to reinforce instruction and support their educational development throughout the school day.
What you'll do#
- Provide instructional support to individuals and small groups in various programs.
- Assist with clerical tasks including grading papers, maintaining records, filing, and managing supplies.
- Supervise students during meal times, special classes, field trips, and bus loading.
- Prepare instructional materials, bulletin boards, and art projects.
- Assist with physical therapy needs and support behavior management strategies.
- Use technology to enhance instruction and complete assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from an accredited high school or completion of a GED.
- Sixty or more college credit hours, an Associate degree or higher, or a passing score on the Para Pro exam.
- A sincere interest in educating and working with exceptional children.
- Ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate coherently.
- Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with school personnel and parents.
- Bilingual or biliterate skills are preferred.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 20 pounds frequently, and 40 pounds or more infrequently.
