About the role#
This position supports the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) instructional program. You will work under the general supervision of teachers and administrators to provide educational support, behavior management, and clerical assistance throughout the school day. This role involves direct interaction with students, parents, and school personnel.
What you'll do#
- Reinforce instruction for individuals and small groups, including tutoring and assisting with physical therapy.
- Provide clerical support such as grading papers, updating folders, filing, and managing records.
- Supervise students during meal times, special programs, field trips, and bus loading.
- Prepare instructional materials, art projects, and bulletin boards.
- Manage student behavior and assist with classroom discipline.
- Use technology to enhance instruction and complete assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from an accredited high school or completion of a GED.
- Sixty or more college credit hours, an Associate's degree or higher, or a passing score on the Para Pro exam.
- A sincere interest in educating and working with exceptional children.
- Ability to understand written and oral instructions, speak and write coherently, and maintain simple reports.
- Professionalism when working with staff and parents.
- Bilingual or biliterate skills are preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Winter Haven, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Physical requirements: Ability to sit for the majority of the day, with occasional standing and walking. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds frequently and 40 pounds or more infrequently with assistance.
