About the role#
The Para - ESE Student Specific position supports the instructional program for Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students. You will work under the supervision of teachers and administrators to provide educational support, behavior management, and student supervision throughout the school day.
What you'll do#
- Reinforce instruction for individuals and small groups, including tutoring and assisting with physical therapy.
- Prepare instructional materials, bulletin boards, and art projects.
- Provide clerical support such as grading papers, updating student folders, filing, and managing records.
- Supervise students during meal times, field trips, bus loading, and special programs.
- Assist with classroom management and coordinate volunteer projects.
- Attend staff meetings and participate on various committees as required.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from an accredited high school or a GED.
- Sixty or more college credit hours, an Associate's degree or higher, or a passing score on the Para Pro exam.
- A sincere interest in working with and educating exceptional children.
- Ability to work cooperatively with school personnel, parents, and the public.
- Strong communication skills to understand instructions and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds regularly and 40 pounds occasionally.
