About the role#
Polaris Rx is hiring a Pharmacist Intern to support our pharmaceutical operations in Covina. This part-time position involves working under the direction of a licensed pharmacist to ensure accurate medication preparation and patient care. You will gain hands-on experience in a long-term care pharmacy setting while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with preparing new and refill prescriptions and orders.
- Verify the accuracy of medication packaging and labeling, including IV medications and emergency drug kits.
- Manage resident databases by tracking medical history, clinical data, and concurrent medications.
- Handle and document controlled substances and maintain perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs.
- Receive verbal orders from prescribers and issue Emergency Drug Kit Authorizations.
- Prepare sterile IV drug products and solutions.
- Respond to clinical questions from staff and patients while documenting all communications.
- Participate in the Therapeutic Interchange and Preferred Product programs.
- Provide coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ensure all work complies with HIPAA and other government regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current status meeting all State Board of Pharmacy requirements for interns.
- Ability to follow set policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Working knowledge of relevant state and federal pharmacy guidelines.

- Compensation: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour.
