About the role#
Polaris Rx is hiring a Pharmacist Intern to support daily pharmacy operations. You will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist with medication preparation, data verification, and patient consultation. This role requires adherence to state and federal guidelines, including HIPAA. You will provide coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What you'll do#
- Prepare new and refill prescriptions.
- Check medication packaging and labeling for accuracy, including IV medications and emergency drug kits.
- Maintain resident databases with medical history and clinical data.
- Handle, receive, document, and store controlled substances.
- Receive verbal orders from prescribers under supervision.
- Issue Emergency Drug Kit Authorizations for controlled medications.
- Respond to drug-related questions from staff and customers.
- Document communications with patients and the healthcare team in medical records.
- Prepare sterile IV drug products or solutions.
- Participate in Preferred Product and Therapeutic Interchange programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a pharmacy program.
- Knowledge of federal guidelines, including HIPAA.
- Ability to follow State Board of Pharmacy guidelines.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
