About the role#
As a Machine Learning Intern, you will apply machine learning and AI to engineering and product challenges. You will work alongside engineering, product, and data teams to prototype, evaluate, and improve ML-powered features. Throughout the internship, you will contribute to real projects and build practical skills with guidance from experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Own a scoped machine learning project from problem definition through experimentation, implementation, and communication of results.
- Contribute to applied machine learning and AI research that informs product experiences.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize data to develop data-driven machine learning models.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, supported by appropriate documentation and testing.
- Apply relevant machine learning techniques, including natural language processing or graph-based approaches.
- Break down technical problems, propose approaches, and implement solutions.
- Deliver assigned project milestones and share progress with teammates.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, ML, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience applying machine learning or AI concepts through research, coursework, projects, or internships.
- Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark and scalable realtime systems.
- Proficiency in at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python) or one ML framework (Tensorflow, Pytorch, MLFlow).
- Experience in research and solving analytical problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: Hybrid (requires 2-3 days per week in the Toronto office).
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday.
- Term: Rolling.
- Compensation: CA$8,000 - CA$8,600 monthly.
