About the role#
Pet Wellness Group offers a clinical externship for veterinary students to gain practical experience in a small animal practice. This program supports your transition from the classroom to clinical work. You will work alongside our veterinary team to manage patient care under supervision. We assign each student a mentor to help meet your specific learning goals and college requirements. The program duration is flexible, typically ranging from two to eight weeks, and requires availability during days, evenings, and weekends. A weekly stipend of $250 is provided.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in surgical procedures.
- Provide wellness care to patients.
- Build client communication skills and refine technical abilities.
- Produce accurate medical records and SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance via a certificate of coverage.
- Professional conduct and adherence to the Veterinary Practice Act.
