About the role#
Pace University is hiring a Water Safety Instructor to join our aquatic team in Pleasantville. This is a part-time, on-site student position with a rolling term. You will assist in teaching swim classes while maintaining a safe environment for all participants.
What you'll do#
- Teach pre-assigned classes following American Red Cross guidelines and university lesson plans.
- Supervise the pool deck consistently while students are present.
- Enforce pool rules and follow the emergency action plan.
- Prepare the pool area before class by setting lane lines, assembling equipment, and greeting students.
- Return the pool to its regular configuration and store all equipment after your shift.
- Ensure children leave with their guardians and maintain a friendly attitude toward all participants.
- Attend required aquatic personnel meetings and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency as a swimmer.
- Prior experience working with children.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Patience and reliability when interacting with visitors.
Location & details#
- Location: Pleasantville, New York.
- Schedule: To be determined with your supervisor.
- Hours: Maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic session and up to 35 hours per week during breaks.
