About the role#
Pace University is seeking an undergraduate research assistant for a pilot project titled Community Research in American Sign Language. This project establishes a recurring, immersive ASL conversation club for students and the public at a New York Public Library branch near the downtown campus. You will assist with curriculum development, participant surveys, and final project documentation.
What you'll do#
- Lead the conversation club sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
- Develop ASL conversation and storytelling topics for an adaptive curriculum suitable for various skill levels.
- Collaborate on the creation of a participant survey to assess access to ASL resources in lower Manhattan.
- Assist in the production of a final report and an ASL video documenting the interest in ASL programming.
What you'll need#
- Federal Work Study eligibility is required. You must verify this status in your financial aid portal before applying.
- Fluency in ASL and personal knowledge of Deaf culture.
- Strong facilitation and time management skills.
- Availability to attend regular club meetings.

- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 5-8 hours per week during the 2026-2027 academic year.
- This is a paid, part-time position.
