The Process Engineering Co-op supports engineering activities at the Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre. This role involves working closely with the Engineering, Operations, and Technical Development teams to design and implement process unit improvements, analyze run data, and troubleshoot daily operations. This is a full-time, paid, on-site co-op position based in Squamish, British Columbia, scheduled for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Support projects from early design through construction and commissioning by contributing to key process deliverables, including H&MBs, PFDs, P&IDs, and datasheets.
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system analyses.
- Participate in Process Hazards Assessments, such as HAZOPS and What-If Analyses.
- Maintain engineering documentation, including updating P&IDs, instrument lists, and equipment lists.
- Support plant modifications through the Management of Change (MoC) process and audit existing documentation.
- Perform field checks and inspections for engineering projects.
- Collaborate with in-house departments, external partners, and vendors to present technical information and study results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Canadian post-secondary institution (2nd, 3rd, or 4th year).
- Preference for candidates pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Eng or equivalent).
- A strong grasp of core engineering principles, specifically thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- Comfort working within a chemical or plant environment.
- An explorer mindset with a drive to tackle novel, complex engineering challenges.
