This co-op position supports the Process Systems Engineering team in delivering process modelling, data analytics, advanced automation, and process intelligence solutions. You will contribute to projects that enhance technology and operations for the broader team, with a primary focus on supporting demonstration plant operations. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Squamish, BC, for a term starting in September 2026.
What you'll do#
- Support the adoption, maintenance, and continuous improvement of in-house data applications.
- Validate and maintain asset templates to ensure they accurately reflect functional and logical attributes.
- Test supervisory control strategies and their integration using plant simulations.
- Support the development and testing of soft-sensor systems that combine data from historians, process models, lab tests, and real-time instrumentation.
- Maintain and improve the implementation of process metrics, diagnostics, and visualizations.
- Demonstrate a positive safety culture by identifying, reporting, and resolving unsafe conditions or actions.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least the second year of a degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Electrical & Computer Engineering.
- Coursework or experience in process automation and controls, industrial automation systems, relational databases, and front-end development.
- Proficiency in technical computing and data analysis using Python.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration.
- An adaptable, problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn in evolving technical environments.
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- Location: Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2026 start (September 2026), 8 months or longer.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: $22–$26 per hour.
- Additional: Relocation support is provided, including four weeks of company-paid accommodation.
