About the role#
Otak is hiring a Civil Design Intern for Summer 2027. This full-time, paid internship offers hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary environment. You will work on projects including municipal roadways, bridges, site development, utilities, and environmental restoration. This role is on-site at our offices in Portland, Oregon, or Vancouver and Redmond, Washington.
What you'll do#
- Support project teams with research, data collection, and analysis.
- Prepare project materials, plans, drawings, and reports using relevant software.
- Maintain project documentation and assist with coordination tasks.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with professionals across different disciplines.
- Assist with site visits and fieldwork as opportunities arise.
- Apply classroom learning to practical engineering challenges.
- Bring fresh ideas and ask questions to grow your technical skills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in Civil Engineering.
- A foundational understanding of engineering principles.
- Interest in transportation, civil infrastructure, or water resources projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn and interest in professional development.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D is a plus.
