About the role#
As a Firmware Engineering Co-op, you will join the team to learn the design methodologies used to create industrial PCs. You will work alongside firmware engineers to develop infrastructure and firmware targeting various CPUs, SoCs, and microcontroller architectures. This role covers the full product lifecycle, from initial concept and development to prototype builds, validation, and volume production. This is a paid, full-time position for 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Identify and document microcontroller firmware requirements with the product design team.
- Perform bare metal firmware development.
- Handle RTOS porting and device driver development.
- Create infrastructure to support firmware build, test, and release processes.
- Support the product certification process, including documentation and issue fixing.
- Assist with tracking issues, severity assessments, and resolutions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- You must be returning to your institution for at least one semester following the co-op.
- Understanding of firmware or software design using C and Assembly.
- Experience using development tools to troubleshoot interactions at the software and hardware boundary.
- Familiarity with design and implementation in Linux or Windows environments.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
- Ability to pass a background check.
