About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience with the Rail Geotechnical and Construction Services team. You will work on real-world projects that bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional practice. The role involves a mix of office-based design work and field-based construction support. We encourage freshmen and sophomores to apply for this position.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers and construction managers on rail projects.
- Assist the soils laboratory team with testing and analysis.
- Support field activities, including drilling operations and construction observation.
- Develop geotechnical designs and perform engineering calculations.
- Prepare technical deliverables for railroad clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a civil engineering degree program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and follow all safety regulations.
- Willingness to travel and take on new opportunities.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
