About the role#
As a Rail Geotechnical intern, you will perform hands-on work alongside geotechnical engineers and construction managers. This role supports the Rail Geotechnical and Construction Services team on projects for Class 1 railroads, short lines, and public agencies. You will gain experience across various design phases and construction management.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers and construction managers on real-world projects.
- Support the soils laboratory and assist with field activities, including drilling operations.
- Assist with construction observation tasks.
- Help develop geotechnical designs and calculations.
- Assist with the preparation of deliverables for railroad projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a civil engineering degree program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and follow all safety regulations.
- Willingness to travel and explore new opportunities.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- Positions are located in La Vista, Nebraska, or Lincoln, Nebraska.
- This role is on-site and offered on a rolling basis.
