About the role#
The Student Welder position gives high school seniors and adult trade school students hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will work under supervision to assist in welding grating products. This role focuses on developing practical fabrication skills while you maintain your academic standing.
What you'll do#
- Prepare metal components by cleaning, cutting, and positioning materials.
- Assemble and weld grating products using MIG equipment.
- Perform grinding to create clean and precise edges.
- Log materials, time, and inventory using the Epicor ERP system.
- Inspect welds visually to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Participate in training sessions to improve your welding techniques.
- Operate power tools and material handling equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Keep your workstation clean and organized.
- Support inventory management and cross-train in other functions.
- Contribute to scrap reduction initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a high school senior or in a welding trade school program.
- Completed welding coursework.
- Basic blueprint reading skills.
- Ability to use metric and standard tape measures.
- Good academic standing in your educational program.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Alliance, Ohio.
- The position is part-time and on-site.
- You will work on the production floor with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold.
