Veterinary Technician Student Externship/Preceptorship Program

About the role#

Oath Animal Hospital offers a Veterinary Technician Student Externship and Preceptorship Program designed to support students currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary technician program. This program provides practical, hands-on experience in a contemporary clinical setting to help students prepare for their professional careers.

What you'll do#

Working alongside veterinarians, technicians, and support staff, you will gain exposure to routine and emergency veterinary care. Your responsibilities include:

• Assisting with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
• Administering medications and vaccinations.
• Monitoring anesthesia during surgeries.
• Conducting laboratory tests, such as bloodwork and urinalysis.
• Taking radiographs (X-rays).
• Caring for hospitalized animals.
• Educating pet owners on preventive care.
• Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited Veterinary Technician program.
• A strong passion for animal care and a desire to learn.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Enthusiasm and active participation in patient care.
• Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology is considered a plus.
