About the role#
This Software Engineering Internship is based within the Rig Technologies business unit. You will join the team in Houston for the summer of 2027 to work on technology that powers the energy industry. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Design and write software for drilling equipment and applications.
- Develop and debug software products before they are released.
- Create and maintain software documentation, including post-release updates.
- Support the implementation, training, and troubleshooting of software products.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware as needed.
- Review project documents to understand requirements and work directly with internal and external customers.
- Participate in design reviews.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- You must be graduating in December 2027 or May 2028.
- Proficiency in at least one software language such as C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, PHP, or Python.
- Experience with PLC software like STEP 7/TIA Portal or RSLogix is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
- A self-directed approach and a desire to learn continuously.
- Comfort working within a large team environment.
