About the role#
The Student Athlete Tutor provides academic support to students to promote achievement and retention. You will help students understand course concepts, reinforce classroom instruction, and maintain a professional, supportive learning environment while adhering to institutional policies regarding academic integrity and confidentiality.
What you'll do#
- Provide subject-specific tutoring to reinforce classroom instruction and improve student understanding.
- Help students develop effective study strategies, time management, and organizational skills.
- Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and encourage self-assessment.
- Assist with writing assignments, proper citation, and use of academic resources.
- Connect students with appropriate academic support services when needed.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current student at NWCC.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- A friendly, patient, and interested attitude.
- Ability to support a facilitative, conversational, and inquiry-based approach to consultations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and be productive with minimal supervision.
