About the role#

The Student Athlete Tutor provides academic support to students to promote achievement and retention. This role involves reinforcing classroom instruction, assisting with course concepts, and maintaining a professional, supportive learning environment while adhering to institutional policies on academic integrity and confidentiality.

What you'll do#

• Provide subject-specific tutoring to reinforce classroom instruction and improve student understanding.
• Help students develop effective study strategies, time management, and organizational skills.
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and encourage self-assessment.
• Assist with writing assignments, proper citation, and use of academic resources.
• Connect students with appropriate academic support services when needed.

What you'll need#

• Must be a current student at NWCC.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• A friendly, patient, and interested attitude.
• Support for a facilitative, conversational, and inquiry-based approach to consultations.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, be productive with minimal supervision, and maintain a good attendance record.
