About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist. You will handle administrative tasks and assist in clinical pharmacy functions to support hospital operations.
What you'll do#
- Prepare medications for inpatient orders and outpatient prescriptions, including typing labels.
- Help provide drug information to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and patients.
- Assist with the preparation and labeling of compounded sterile applications.
- Conduct monthly medication room inspections and reviews.
- Manage inventory by replenishing floor stock, verifying invoices against shipments, and storing drugs in the correct locations.
- Remove outdated or recalled drugs and ensure unused medications are returned to the pharmacy.
- Maintain control records for manufactured items and prepare reports for the Pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A current permit to practice as a Pharmacy Intern in New York State.
- Zero to one year of relevant experience.
- Specialized certifications as required.
