About the role#
Nightwing is seeking a Multidisciplinary Engineer Intern to support ongoing programs at our Springfield, Virginia location. This is an on-site, full-time summer internship for 2027. You will work alongside engineering and technician teams to contribute to various projects.
What you'll do#
- Support senior engineers with multidisciplinary activities.
- Design and analyze tools and mechanisms.
- Create detailed fabrication drawings.
- Perform mechanical testing and rapid prototyping.
- Assist with assembly tasks.
- Write reports and presentations.
- Provide support during design reviews.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Mining, Computer, Software, Systems, or Electrical Engineering.
- Status as a rising Junior or Senior by the start of Summer 2027.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is desired.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and retain a U.S. Top Secret Clearance.
- Coursework or experience with CAD software for mechanical design.
- Fundamental engineering knowledge.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Experience with mechanical assembly, hand and powered tools, laboratory testing, and computational analysis software is preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a collaborative team environment.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
