About the role#
Nidec Motor Corporation is seeking an Internal Audit Co-Op to join our team in St. Louis. This role offers hands-on experience in financial, operational, and compliance audits. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain a foundation in internal controls, risk management, and corporate governance within a global manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in all phases of internal audits, from planning and fieldwork to reporting and follow-up.
- Test financial and operational controls through inquiry, observation, and re-performance.
- Prepare audit workpapers and ensure all testing is documented with appropriate evidence.
- Develop an understanding of business processes, risks, and key controls to execute audit procedures.
- Gather and analyze data to support audit conclusions.
- Document audit results and observations in line with internal standards.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and process improvements.
- Follow up with process owners regarding the status of audit findings and remediation plans.
- Support quarterly and year-end testing activities for external auditors.
- Evaluate corrective actions to verify that identified risks are mitigated.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting.
- A basic understanding of accounting principles and auditing concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office applications.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Interest in pursuing professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CFE is a plus.
- Prior internship, Co-Op, or coursework in accounting, auditing, finance, or internal controls.
- Knowledge of data analytics tools and experience working with large data sets are preferred.
