    About the role#

    The Government Relations & Public Policy (GRPP) team monitors legislative and regulatory developments to protect and advance the interests of our members. As a Public Policy Assistant Summer Associate, you will support the team's advocacy and operational goals. This 12-week internship provides exposure to government relations, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration within the financial services industry.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct research on federal and state legislative proposals, regulatory actions, and emerging policy issues.
    • Collect, organize, and analyze data to support team reporting and leadership updates.
    • Prepare briefing materials, executive summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
    • Develop dashboards and visualizations to track advocacy activities and team performance.
    • Track project action items and strategic initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with business units across the enterprise to gather information for policy-related projects.
    • Complete a capstone project focused on improving reporting, knowledge management, or operational processes.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
    • Pursuit of a degree in Political Science, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Public Policy, Government, Public Administration, or Law.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail.
    • Ability to research and synthesize complex information into concise summaries.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Experience balancing multiple projects or priorities, whether through coursework, student organizations, or previous roles.
    • Demonstrated interest in public policy, government relations, or the credit union industry.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Vienna, Virginia.
    • Term: May 2027 through August 2027.
    • Modality: On-site, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
    • Status: Full-time internship.
