About the role#
We are seeking a Summer Associate to join the Digital Payments Analytics team. You will use data science and business intelligence techniques to solve business problems across non-card money movement products like ACH, Zelle, Real-Time Payments, and wires. You will work with analysts and business stakeholders to turn complex data into insights, recommendations, and decision-support tools. This is a 12-week internship program running from May 2027 to August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define analytical approaches for business questions.
- Clean, prepare, and explore large member and transaction datasets.
- Write efficient code in Python and SQL using platforms like Databricks for repeatable analytics.
- Use Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools to support research, coding, and documentation, ensuring all outputs are validated.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations using Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
- Apply statistical, predictive, or prescriptive methods to identify patterns and opportunities.
- Document your methods, assumptions, and findings clearly.
- Present insights and recommendations to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Analyze member adoption, transaction flows, and the movement of funds across payment products.
- Evaluate member payment journeys and identify shifts in behavior across different payment options.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a closely related field, with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Experience using Python, R, or SQL for data preparation and analysis.
- Experience with exploratory data analysis and working with large or complex datasets.
- Familiarity with data visualization or business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to connect analytical findings to business questions and explain results clearly.
- Coursework or experience in statistics, machine learning, predictive analytics, or optimization.
- Experience with Spark, Databricks, cloud analytics platforms, or version control tools like GitHub.
- Interest in digital payments, financial services, consumer behavior, or product analytics.
- Experience developing concise presentations or data stories for business audiences.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship.
- Locations: Vienna, Virginia and Pensacola, Florida.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CT.
