About the role#
This internship is a joint position within the Leadership and Professional Development Services (LPDS) department at NAFSA. The role supports various professional units, including Education Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services, Learning and Training, Regional Affairs, and Volunteer Engagement. This is a paid, part-time opportunity for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Collect illustrative stories from volunteers and members, with a focus on early career professionals.
- Support 4-5 in-person and online events, including registration, promotion, and logistics.
- Conduct research on international education trends and identify thought leaders in the field.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including correspondence, creating membership lists, and organizing meeting materials.
- Provide customer service support by answering inquiries related to programs and services.
- Review, edit, and update existing web and print resources.
- Participate in department and unit meetings.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with Zoom and social media platforms.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Academic background in International Relations, Business Administration, Communications, or Political Science.
- Interest in higher education, international education research, and U.S. campus internationalization.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Hours: Up to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $18.40 per hour.
- Requirements: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. F-1 students may use CPT or OPT eligibility.
