About the role#
The Thermal Engineering team manages the thermal performance and safety of flight hardware across all satellite platforms. As an intern, you will take ownership of thermal efforts ranging from hardware design and analysis to testing. Your work will directly influence the next generation of Muon satellites.
What you'll do#
- Design, analyze, document, and test spacecraft thermal control subsystems and components.
- Propose and iterate on improvements for new and existing thermal hardware.
- Write and monitor thermal tests to characterize performance.
- Conduct analysis to support development and testing cycles.
What you'll need#
- Experience with thermal test and analysis, including test planning and execution.
- Proficiency in creating slide decks, presentations, and Google Sheets.
- Coursework or experience in Thermodynamics, Numerical Analysis, Finite Elements, Software Engineering, or Project Engineering.
- A portfolio of example thermal design, analysis, integration, or test work.
- Familiarity with Thermal Desktop, orbital mechanics, and physics principles.
- Experience with development testing at the component and system level.
- Previous internship, co-op, or technical project team experience.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in San Jose, California.
- The term runs during the summer of 2027, between May and September, depending on your university schedule.
