Data Engineering Co-Op

About the role#

Motorola Fixed Video is seeking a Data Engineering Co-Op to join our analytics team. In this role, you will assist in designing and developing scalable data pipelines and maintaining cloud-based data architecture. You will work with large datasets to resolve production issues, ensure system performance, and optimize data workflows.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the development and maintenance of scalable data infrastructure using Python, SQL, and cloud-based technologies.
• Integrate REST APIs for data ingestion and external system connectivity, utilizing workflow orchestration tools.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance using logging and observability tools.
• Document workflows, architecture components, and technical decisions to support knowledge sharing.
• Identify and implement opportunities for data automation and process improvement.
• Apply best practices in data governance, security, and performance optimization.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field at a Canadian University, with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
• Proficiency in Python, specifically for data manipulation using libraries such as pandas, JSON, and requests.
• Experience with Snowflake, including SQL, Snowpipe, and staging or loading data.
• Knowledge of API standards (REST, SOAP) and authentication methods (OAUTH2, KeyPair).
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with data security, privacy standards, and handling sensitive data.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
