Intern II - IMCU - Per Diem

About the role#

This is a paid, per diem Nurse Intern II position within the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This role is designed for nursing students during the summer of 2026 to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting the healthcare team.

What you'll do#

• Carry out specific duties as directed by a floor RN to support patient care.
• Provide direct patient care, including bathing, oral and hair care, bed making, ambulation, positioning, and toileting.
• Record patient measurements such as intake, output, vital signs, and weights.
• Answer patient call lights and assist with patient transport or 1:1 observation.
• Collect and label specimens, assist with wound care, and prepare rooms for admissions and discharges.
• Set up medical equipment including portable oxygen, suction, telemetry electrodes, and traction.
• Assist with EKGs and phlebotomy after completing necessary training.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and replenish stock items.
• Alert the supervising RN of any abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing Program.
• Must be a senior in the program (final year or last two semesters).
• Prior experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
