About the role#
The Learning Center at Mohawk Valley Community College hires Peer Tutors to provide academic support and improve student performance. This is a paid, part-time position with rolling recruitment. You will work on-site to help students build confidence through active learning and individualized instruction.
What you'll do#
- Assist students from diverse backgrounds in understanding course material and clarifying concepts.
- Create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages active participation.
- Help students develop effective study techniques and time management skills.
- Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
- Work collaboratively with Learning Center staff and other tutors to support student growth.
What you'll need#
- Fluency in the subject discipline, specifically seeking support in Mathematics, Accounting, or Nursing.
- A status as a dedicated learner.
- Comfort working with students who have a range of academic skills.
- Ability to engage with students from a variety of backgrounds.
