About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Co-op position with the Assurance and Accounting team in Terrace, British Columbia. The term runs from January 2028 through August 2028. You will work on-site to provide financial information and advisory services to help clients make informed business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
- Assess the appropriateness of audit evidence for revenues, expenses, and asset accounts.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Draft technical reports, client summaries, and presentations regarding engagement findings.
- Collaborate with the engagement team and maintain professional relationships with client contacts.
- Set up files for new clients and conduct inventory counts.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progressing toward prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous office experience in an accounting environment is considered an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
