About the role#
MNP is hiring a Co-op Accountant to join the Assurance and Accounting team in Stratford, Prince Edward Island. This is a full-time, paid position. You will work on-site and should be prepared to travel as necessary.
What you'll do#
You will build technical skills in areas including audits, reviews, compilations, tax, and bookkeeping. Your daily work involves managing multiple client files, setting up new business accounts, and conducting inventory counts. You will perform walk-throughs for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and capital assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Applying knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Assessing the appropriateness of audit evidence for revenues, expenses, and assets.
- Investigating and correcting discrepancies in financial documents.
- Establishing charts of accounts and preparing entries.
- Drafting technical reports, client summaries, and correspondence.
- Collaborating with the engagement team to support client relationships.
- Proposing new ideas to improve work processes.
What you'll need#
- You are currently working toward a bachelor degree in commerce or business administration, preferably with a major in accounting or finance.
- You are working toward the prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Previous office experience in accounting is an asset.
- Experience with client service and accounting or tax software is an asset.
