About the role#
MNP is hiring a Co-op Accountant for the Winter 2027 term in Port Hope, Ontario. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position. You will work with the Assurance and Accounting team to provide financial information and support to clients.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in audits, reviews, compilations, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Manage multiple client files, set up new business files, and conduct inventory counts.
- Perform walk-throughs for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and capital assets.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, and assets.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Draft technical reports, client summaries, and presentations.
- Collaborate with the engagement team and maintain client relationships.
- Suggest improvements to work processes and travel as needed.
What you'll need#
- Completion of, or working toward, a bachelor degree in business administration or commerce, preferably with a major in accounting or finance.
- Progress toward prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Flexibility to travel when required.
- Previous office experience, customer service background, or experience with accounting and tax software are considered assets.
