About the role#
MERL is looking for an intern for a three-month assignment focused on the research of distributed estimation and control for interconnected dynamical systems. This work centers on state estimation problems for distributed thermofluid systems governed by large-scale, nonlinear, and sparse differential algebraic equations. The modular nature of these systems requires a distributed architecture for both estimation and control.

- Conduct research into distributed estimation and control of interconnected dynamical systems.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Ph.D. or equivalent program of study.
- Knowledge of classic and advanced methods of multivariable and nonlinear control and estimation.
- Experience with the design and realization of classic and advanced nonlinear control systems.
- Experience with the design and realization of state estimation algorithms.
- Knowledge of distributed estimation theory.
- Experience with networked control systems or multi-agent systems.
Location & details#
- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: 6,000 to 8,000 dollars per month.
- Benefits: Relocation stipend, travel coverage, monthly Charlie Card for commuting, and eligibility for health insurance after a 90-day waiting period.
