About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in tax preparation, research, compliance, and planning. Working under the supervision of senior tax professionals, you will support the tax department with various accounting tasks while gaining practical insight into the field. This position is designed for students interested in pursuing a career as a Certified Public Accountant.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns, ensuring all forms and supporting documentation are accurate and complete.
- Conduct research on current tax laws and regulations to help interpret and apply them to client situations.
- Support the tax team by communicating with clients regarding inquiries and preparing materials for meetings.
- Enter and organize financial data, including income, expenses, and deductions, into tax preparation software.
- Assist in the preparation of tax projections to help clients maintain compliance while minimizing liabilities.
- Perform clerical functions including document management, filing, and administrative support.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accountancy or an equivalent program.
- A current or most recent GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed research and problem-solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy when working with complex financial data.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic knowledge of tax preparation software is a plus.
- Exposure to CPA exam topics and study materials is encouraged.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and work for prolonged periods at a desk.
