Internship - Tax (June 2027)

About the role#

The Tax Intern position at Miller Kaplan offers a hands-on learning opportunity for students pursuing a career in accounting, particularly those interested in becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). You will work under the supervision of senior tax professionals to gain experience in tax preparation, research, compliance, and planning within a professional team environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist in preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all forms and documentation.
• Conduct research on current tax laws and regulations to assist in interpreting and applying them to client situations.
• Support the tax team by communicating with clients regarding inquiries and preparing materials for client meetings.
• Enter and organize financial data, including income, expenses, and deductions, into tax preparation software.
• Help prepare tax projections to assist clients with compliance and liability minimization.
• Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including document management, filing, scanning, and mailing.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accountancy or an equivalent program.
• A current or most recent GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed research and problem-solving.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy with complex financial data.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic knowledge of tax preparation software is considered an asset.
• Exposure to CPA exam topics and study materials is encouraged.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and work at a desk for prolonged periods.

• Compensation: This is a paid internship.
