About the role#
Millennial Software is hiring two Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 to work on Forge, our DevSecOps platform. You will build an automated codebase assessment tool that analyzes repositories to report on structure, deployment readiness, and technical debt. This tool will provide leadership with a consolidated view of our software portfolio. You will be paired with mentors and participate in daily standups and sprint planning throughout the 12-week program.
What you'll do#
- Build analyzers for inventory (languages, frameworks, dependencies, licenses), structure (complexity, coupling, test coverage, dead code), and deployment (container readiness, configuration, secrets hygiene, CI presence).
- Implement a weighted scoring model and portfolio roll-up, emitting JSON records for tracking.
- Develop an LLM layer to generate readable reports and remediation lists, evaluating the output against a specific rubric.
- Run an external open-source repository through the system to prove it generalizes.
- Deliver a full portfolio report and present your findings at a leadership readout.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Rising senior or exceptional rising junior status pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust.
- Comfort working with Git, Linux, and unfamiliar codebases.
- Coursework or project experience in software engineering practices like testing, CI/CD, containers, or static analysis.
- Experience with static analysis tools, LLM APIs, or DevSecOps tooling is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Chantilly, Virginia.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 17 - August 6).
- Commitment: 12 weeks, full time, on-site with hybrid flexibility.
- Compensation: $26.50 - $27.50 per hour.
