Mechanical Engineering Intern

About the role#

Michael Baker International is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the mechanical design team in San Diego, California. This role supports the design of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing systems for complex facilities, including airports, transit centers, and industrial projects.

What you'll do#

• Support the preparation of construction plans using Revit 3D modeling software.
• Prepare design calculations under the direction of engineering staff.
• Assist in the preparation of project pursuit materials.
• Support the creation of written and graphic reports.
• Assist with data collection, input, verification, and manipulation.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Completion of at least 3 years of coursework in an engineering program.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Experience with 3D modeling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; experience with Bluebeam PDF software is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong English communication skills.

• Location: San Diego, California.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Full-time; interns working during the academic year are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
• Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour.
