Metropolitan Family Services is seeking a part-time intern for the Fall 2026 term to support the Domestic Violence Community Outreach & Education program in DuPage County. This unpaid internship is designed for current college students seeking to fulfill course or graduation requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support domestic violence prevention education efforts in DuPage County and surrounding area schools.
- Assist with tabling and community events alongside local organizations.
- Promote the Bathroom Poster project and other outreach initiatives.
- Create educational social media content and support internal and external trainings.
- Develop a working knowledge of agency programs and community-based resources to facilitate service linkages.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including Community Engagement Logs.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with local agencies, organizations, and partnering sites.
- Attend mandatory group supervision and agency meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor-level program in Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, or Criminal Justice is preferred.
- Completion of a 40-hour Domestic Violence training.
- Ability to complete a minimum of 300 hours during the internship.
- Access to a vehicle, proof of insurance, and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks.
- Physical ability to sit or stand for sustained periods, use hands for office equipment, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
