About the role#
The Medical-Surgical Nursing Student Practicum is a structured educational opportunity for nursing students to complete their senior practicum at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. This program is designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and bedside practice, allowing students to gain hands-on clinical experience within the Medical-Surgical service line for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist in individualized patient care to support wellness.
- Perform designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks under the direction of an RN.
- Care for a diverse patient population across multiple Medical-Surgical specialties.
- Strengthen assessment, clinical judgment, and time-management skills.
- Gain confidence by caring for patients with various medical and surgical conditions.
- Collaborate with experienced bedside nurses, clinical educators, and nurse leaders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the final semester of an accredited RN or LPN nursing program.
- Ability to complete the senior practicum within the Mercy Hospital St. Louis Medical-Surgical Service Line.
- Commitment to accept a bedside nursing position with Mercy upon graduation.
- Agreement to a minimum six-month employment commitment following graduation.
